Project logistics for industrial and energy projects

Project logistics covers the planning and execution of transport for all equipment belonging to one investment project — from the factory gate to the foundation on site. Zagrebački transporti has run such operations across Europe since 1996: we prepare feasibility studies, obtain permits, plan routes and coordinate every party involved until the final delivery.

What project logistics includes

Unlike a single haul, project transport is managed as one complete project with one manager and one delivery plan:

  • Feasibility study and technical cargo analysis before contracting
  • Route survey and planning, including bridges, underpasses and turning radii
  • Abnormal load permits in every transit country
  • Coordination with escort vehicles, police and road authorities
  • Delivery schedule aligned with the site assembly sequence
  • Loading, cargo securing, transport and crane-assisted unloading
  • Temporary storage and consolidation of shipments before delivery

How we run a project

  1. 1. Analysis and feasibility study. We collect weights, dimensions and centres of gravity of every piece and confirm whether the route is viable and under which measures.
  2. 2. Route and permit planning. We prepare route options, verify structural load capacity and file permit applications in every country along the corridor.
  3. 3. Execution preparation. We define vehicles, trailers, securing equipment, cranes, escort requirements and driving time windows.
  4. 4. Execution and supervision. Project managers accompany the convoys and the client receives status reports and confirmation of every delivery.
  5. 5. Project closure. We hand over documentation, proof of delivery and permit records for the investor and supervising engineer.

Cargo we typically move on projects

Our experience covers industrial, energy and infrastructure projects:

  • Transformers, generators and power plant equipment
  • Wind farm components — tower sections, nacelles and blades
  • Boilers, pressure vessels, reactors and columns
  • Bridge girders, steel and concrete structures
  • Complete production lines and factory plants
  • Silos, tanks and process equipment

Multimodal approach

When a road route is not viable along the whole corridor, we combine transport modes and take over transhipment coordination:

  • Road transport. Lowbed, telescopic and modular platforms for loads up to several hundred tonnes.
  • Inland waterway and sea transport. Delivery to a port or river terminal and transfer onto road vehicles for the final leg.
  • Rail transport. For long corridors and cargo restricted by road infrastructure limits.
  • Transhipment operations. Cranes, gantry systems and hydraulic platforms organised at every transfer point.

Why ZGT

  • Almost three decades of experience in abnormal and heavy transport
  • Own fleet of specialised trailers and experienced drivers
  • One project manager and one point of contact for the whole delivery
  • Working knowledge of permit procedures across EU member states
  • Delivery scheduling aligned with construction site progress
